Opoku Ware School

Brief Profile

Opoku Ware School, originally called the Yaa Asantewaa College, was established by the Gold Coast Government at the request of the Catholic Church in Ashanti Region to cater for boys’ education, as an alternative to travelling to St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast. In February 1952, Rev. Fr. Peter Burgess, conducted interviews and admitted 60 boys into the school at Santasi.

VISION

The vision of the school is to strive to achieve an integral formation, a formation that has for its objective the total development of the human person. The school offers her students the opportunity to develop to the full, their physical, intellectual, moral and spiritual talents for a balanced sense of responsibility. It aims at excellence in whatever it does.
