Brief Profile
The school was started when the late Mr. Sam Boateng, an educationist and a native of Offinso who was working at the Ghana Education Service Headquarters advised Offinsoman to establish a secondary school. The idea was welcomed and a planning committee made up of Op. Kwadwo Kyere (a.k.a. Op. Kwadwo Krah), Op. Akwasi Addae, Op. Kwabenah Mensah, Mr. Nsiah Akoto, Mr. M.K. Boakye (Secretary to the Committee) and later Archbishop Emeritus Peter Akwasi Sarpong was set up to oversee the establishment of the school.The name Dwamena Akenten (The Founder of Offinso State) was proposed for the school by Nana Kwaku Nyantakyi (a.k.a Op. Kwaku Nkwantah), the then Nifahene of Offinso Traditional Area. Dwamena Akenten Senior High School was established in September, 1964 to serve Offinso Community and its environs, a predominantly farming community in Offinso Municipality in Ashanti Region.
